That's what the Muséotrain in Semur-en-Vallon in the Sarthe is inviting you to do: "a moment out of time to forget the present".
In a green setting, in the middle of nowhere, in the Sarthe countryside, an authentic little old train that leaves from a station like those of yesteryear will take you back in time to the people and trains of yesteryear...
When you arrive at the Decauville station, which serves the Muséotrain, you'll be swept away by the atmosphere of a station from another era. An air of my grandfather's stations.
Then, as you pass through the entrance, you are plunged into another era, as if you were there. Stroll along the 200 metres of secure walkways accessible to visitors with disabilities. Along the way, you'll come across a thousand objects from the life of the railways. You'll have access to numerous railway vehicles of all ages.
You can enter and touch them. Everything has been restored and enhanced by the scenography, videos and sounds: 20 buttons give you an interactive tour.
You're no longer in the 20s of the 21st century, but in the 20s of other centuries.
The immersion is so strong that you almost regret returning to the present. But you'll come away with memories that fill your head, sincere emotions and the question: "Is this what trains used to be like?
It's a moment rich in memories for the older generation, and a fascinating and educational discovery for the younger.
It's an experience you should have at least once... and one you'll want to relive.
