Annexed to the Château de la Goupillère, the seigneury belonged to the barony of La Ferté Bernard until the French Revolution. The village, which is limited to the church, the presbytery, the vicarage and the hamlet of La Fontaine, developed mainly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, thanks to the establishment in 1894 of the Lego factory, a foundry specialising in copper alloys, located at the Jumeaux mill on the River Huisne.
