Savigné, an ancient settlement along the ancient road from Le Mans to Evreux and an important market town under the Ancien Régime, has long been popular with the gentry of Le Mans, who built or restored houses and châteaux, sometimes on medieval seigneurial sites. Along the way, you'll see Nuyet, dating from the late 18th century, and the 19th-century châteaux of Le Rocher (now the town hall), Mortrie and Le Mesnil, home to a major stud farm.
