  • The village of Cherreau has always been closely linked to the neighbouring town of La Ferté-Bernard. In the Middle Ages, the lords of La Ferté took over the Pelice abbey at the end of the 12th century. Then, in the 14th century, the Plaisse estate became part of the La Ferté estate. Closer to home, when the town of La Ferté-Bernard expanded in the 19th century, it encroached on Cherreau, to which it annexed the suburb of Gué-Faux and Fosse Fondue, bordering the route de Paris, in 1889.
