Apple turnover festival Saint-Calais

Legend has it that in 1630, the town’s chatelaine saved the population from famine by distributing flour and apples. This was the origin of the apple turnover. In memory of this story, the commune of Saint-Calais has celebrated the apple turnover for several centuries, with a parade, street arts, market and apple turnover baking.

Over the centuries, the festival has evolved considerably, passing through stages such as the religious procession, the corso fleuri and street performances. Above all, however, it remains a celebration of tradition and gastronomy.

For those with a sweet tooth, let yourself be tempted by apple turnovers, then immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere with street performances, enchanting music, a craft market, horse-drawn carriage rides and captivating exhibitions. A day full of flavors and discoveries awaits you!

Every year, on the 1st Sunday in September.
